Contemporary multimedia branch constitutes not only high, i.e. expensive, technology, but first and foremost contuniuous knowledge and technology transfer. Close partnership between the spheres of science and business is the characteristic of all sucessful technological projects.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the research on enterprise innovativeness conducted within the Community Innovation Survey in EU member states proved that interaction and cooperation is most common between innovative elements on the regional plane. Regional innovative systems, based mostly on knowledge transfer resulting from immediate human interaction, exploit first and foremost geographical proximity, which constitutes a key factor of cluster structure functioning. Creating and developing clusters in the region is interlinked with a number of phenomena, which positively influence the competitiveness and innovativeness of local economy.

Recognizing the requirements of the market, Ruda Śląska Business Incubator Sp. z o.o. acquired alomost one million Polish Złoty funding from the European Regional Development Fund for a project entitled: “The Innovations of Silesia – Creating, Promoting and Developing the Silesian Multimedia Cluster”.
On January 19, 2012 the Province Government of the Silesia Voivodeship chose projects entitled to receive subsidy within the framework of two calls: 01.03.00-118/11 and 01.03.00-119/11 - Measure 1.3. Technology and Innovation Transfer within the Regional Operational Program of the Silesia Voivodeship, including our project.  Owing to that the activity of the Silesian Multimedia Cluster was made possible.

Within the framework of the project members of the cluster will take part in study visits to Denmark and Sweden, enriched with seminars conducted by the managers of the largest ICT cluster in Europe. Entrepreneurs from Silesia will be given a chance to establish business contacts with members of Scandinavian cluters, which are, according the European Commission research, the leader among the 27 EU member states in terms of innovativeness. They will attend CeBIT 2013 innovative technology trade fair in Hannover, the most important international IT industry trade fair. The framework of the project encompasses also workshops aimed at working out development activities for the new programming period 2014-2020. IT and multimedia hardware will be purchased to help the cluster members execute their ideas, thus stimulate innovative activity of the companies.  Funding spannes also promotional activities. Joint promotion is one of the most common fields of cooperation, and is capable of yielding measurable benefits to companies.  Connecting resources and comptence is especially crucial in case of expansion and promotion on international markets, which require more substantial expenditure
and competence, and which are very often beyond single enterprise's reach.
